Artist's Description

In the late 90s made this photograph while working at an oil field in Algeria called Rhourde El Baguel. It's located in the northeast portion of the Sahara Desert. A group of us went out and promptly got our vehicle stuck in the sand, but not before we hiked up one of the massive star dunes and I found this scene.

Security at the oil field was provided by national military personnel, which was a mixed blessing. We could sense that they did not want us here. This combined with an apparent ineptitude with their weapons (numerous ADs - Accidental Discharge) made us a little uncomfortable at times.
